Redmond is the seventh most populous city in King County and is located 15 miles east of Seattle at the north end of Lake Sammamish. Marymoor Park, located on the north end of Lake Sammamish in Redmond, Washington, is King County's largest, oldest, and most popular park, with more than 3 million annual visitors coming to roam its 640 acres. Among recreational activities available are various sports facilities, rock climbing, a 40-acre off-leash dog park and a velodrome. It is also one end of the Sammamish River Trail, a biking and walking trail. In addition, a radio control aircraft flying field and a pet memorial garden are within the park's boundaries.
Sammamish River Trail runs 10.1 miles along the Sammamish River from Bothell to Marymoor Park in Redmond as part of the “Locks to Lakes Corridor.” The trail is primarily used for walking, running, bird watching, and road biking and is accessible year-round. The SRT is paved its entire length and offers extraordinary views of the river, the broad Sammamish River Valley, Cascade foothills and Mt. Rainier. Bicyclists, joggers, skaters, walkers, and others enjoy the trail as a regional recreation resource.
Redmond Town Center is an outdoor mall featuring a two-level retail area with over 120 stores, 20 restaurants, three hotels, 6 fitness studios, healthcare, arts and entertainment. RTC comes alive during the holidays featuring many activities and events, including spirited rides on the polar express train and Hyatt House horse carousel. You can explore the synthetic skating rink, visit Santa’s workshop for photos, or listen to the sounds of the season with over 25 live performances on Center Stage.
Idylwood Park is located on the shore of Lake Sammamish and is a much-loved Redmond outdoor recreation area. The park covers around 17-acres and is home to a popular beach area where you can enjoy swimming and boating. There is a small boat launch suitable for car-top boats, kayaks and canoes. You can also enjoy fishing off the beach or from the fishing pier. There are a few picnic shelters available on a first come first served basis. Walkers can explore the nature walk in the natural forests along Idylwood Creek.
